For the first time CISF raising day will be celebrated outside New Delhi with Union Home Minister Amit Shah as the chief guest of the 54th Raising Day parade on 12 March at National Industrial Security Academy (NISA) at Hakimpet in Hyderabad. The home minister will be reaching the city tomorrow night.

“This is for the first time in CISF’s history that the Raising Day Parade is being held out of New Delhi,” said Additional DG North Piyush Anand. The government has directed that the Raising Day celebrations should pan out since CISF was a pan India force. People across the country should see the force from close quarters and hence the venue of the Raising Day parade will rotate every year.

Anand went on to add, “As the NISA is the Centre for excellence for CISF it was decided that the Raising Day Parade will be held here.” Apart from NISA which was recognised by the Ministry of Home Affairs(MHA) as a “Centre of Excellence” for training in Industrial Security Management CISF has six other regional training centres located at Barwaha in Madhya Pradesh, Mundali in Odisha, Arakkonam in Tamil Nadu, Behrore and Deoli in Rajasthan and Bhilai in Chhattisgarh.

A total of 23 medals will be presented on the occasion of the Raising Day celebrations for meritorious and distinguished service and specialised demonstrations will be held by the trained personnel.

Currently, CISF provides security cover to 354 vital installations including 66 airports, sea ports, nuclear and space installations, Delhi Metro, steel and power plants with its total strength of 1,70,000 personnel. The Special Security Group of CISF provides security to 147 protectees of various categories. CISF also provides fire service cover to 111 units. The force also provides security to 11 private establishments. With a total of 10,031 women personnel CISF has the largest percentage of women officers and personnel among Central Armed Police Forces, comprising about 6.7 per cent of the total strength.
