BJP president Amit Shah on Sunday targeted the Congress on the issue of national security as well as Jammu-Kashmir.

At an election rally in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba, the BJP chief slammed the Congress over its manifesto declaration that it will review AFSPA in Kashmir and amend the sedition law.

“After the airstrike, grief descended on two places – one in Pakistan and another in Rahul Baba and company,” Shah said referring to the Balakot airstrike.

“If he wants to sympathise with terrorists, he can. Our policy is clear – a bullet comes from there, a cannonball will go from here,” he said.

Commenting on the controversial Article 370, Shah said that it will be scrapped if Narendra Modi is elected as Prime Minister again.

“We want to remove Article 370, they say ‘remove sedition law’. Why?” Shah said stressing that the law exists to deal with “anti-nationals”.

“As long as there is Modi government, the place for those who say ‘Bharat tere tukde honge’ will be the prison,” Shah thundered.

Shah also said that former Jammu-Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah wants another prime minister for the state but the BJP will not let that happen.

“Even if the BJP is not in power one day, no one can separate Kashmir from India as long as BJP workers are alive,” Shah said.

Shah also pointed out that Congress leader Sam Pitroda said that instead of airstrikes “we should talk to militants”.

Targeting Pitroda further for his “hua to hua” remark, the BJP chief said, “If you ask a question regarding the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, the Congress says ‘hua to hua’. If you ask a question regarding the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai and migration of Kashmiri Pandits, Congress says ‘hua to hua’.”

He also said that the opposition has not made corruption an issue as it has been “wiped out” during the Modi government.

Shah was addressing his first rally at Chogan Maidan in Chamba district. Shah was campaigning for Kangra BJP candidate Kishan Kapoor.

The BJP candidate is being challenged by sitting MLA Pawan Kajal of Congress. HP CM Jai Ram Thakur and veteran BJP leader Shanta Kumar were present in the rally.

Shah will later address a rally in HP’s Bilaspur for Anurag Thakur and in Nahan for Suresh Kashyap. While Thakur is seeking re-election from Hamirpur, Kashyap is contesting from Shimla Lok Sabha seat.
