In a first for Kerala, the state Legislative Assembly is set to have an all-women Speaker panel. The seventh session of the 15th Kerala Assembly will be run by the all-women panel in the absence of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
Usually, the three-member panel would have one woman, but for the current Assembly session, all three members are women.

The three-member panel now comprises U Prathibha from CPI-M, Asha CK from CPI and KK Rema of the Revolutionary Marxist Party of India, a UDF ally.While Prathibha and Asha represent the government, KK Rema represents the Opposition on the panel.
The historic decision was taken by the new Assembly Speaker AN Shamseer who’s chairing his maiden Assembly session after taking charge recently. The seventh session of the current legislature started on Monday
Since the first session of the Kerala legislative assembly, 515 members have been in the panel but only 32 have been women.
