After Congress, it seems it is the turn of the Bharat Rashtriya Samithi (BRS) to face infighting ahead of the assembly elections with five of its MLAs from Medchal constituency secretly holding a meeting on Monday against state minister Ch Mallareddy. Their grouse was that the minister is giving away all posts to only to his followers in the district.

Ironically, in both the Congress and the BRS the tirade seems to be against the entrants from TDP.

The MLAs met at the residence of Mynampally Hanmantha Rao who is known to be close to working president KT Rama Rao. They said they will approach Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao with their complaint since an earlier discussion with the minister did not yield any results.

Later, Hanmantha Rao, the MLA of Malkajgiri, alleged that the posts were being given to only those from Medchal constituency represented by the minister. Most of the posts were going to those who have already held such posts earlier.

He justified the decision to meet separately saying it was only held for the benefits of the cadres and wondered how the party’s top leadership would come to know about the problems if nobody briefed them.

Another MLA, M Krishna Rao of Kukatapally, said, “Our workers are being treated unfairly, all posts are going to one constituency All the posts are going to the minister’s followers.”

However, Mallareddy has said if he had known about the meeting he would have attended it.

Significantly, Mallareddy was TDP’s lone MP in Telangana just like those in the Congress who joined the TRS soon after getting elected. Known for owning a large number of educational institutions, he was raided by the IT Department a few days back.

The Congress is also finding itself at the centre of an intense infighting between “real Congress” and “outsiders” who mostly joined the party from TDP as the Chandrababu Naidu’s party was decimated in the wake of the bifurcation. Some of the members, particularly MLAs and MPs joined the TRS while the rest joined the Congress in order to oppose K Chandrasekhar Rao.

As the party seems to be splitting it is the BJP leaders who are rejoicing, hoping to have anti TRS votes in its kitty in the upcoming Assembly and later the General Elections. The national general secretary in charge of Telangana, Tarun Chugh, even said Congress has lost its existence in Telangana while its IT Cell incharge Amit Malviya said it was imploding in Telangana.

However, amidst the allegations and counter-allegations TPCC president A Revanth Reddy announced he will take up Haath Se Haath Jodo Yatra across the state.
