In a motivational address to the cadets of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) at the ongoing Republic Day Camp 2025, Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), spoke about the key attributes essential for success—attitude, aptitude, self-belief, character, commitment, and self-discipline. He highlighted how these traits are vital for cadets as they pursue their goals and contribute to the nation’s progress.

He praised the cadets for their impeccable turnout and high standards of display, encouraging them to carry the spirit of NCC’s ethos throughout the country with enthusiasm. He applauded the NCC’s community development programmes, such as Swachhta Pakhwada, tree plantation drives, blood donation camps, cancer awareness initiatives, and Puneet Sagar Abhiyan. These initiatives, he said, not only raise social awareness but also contribute to the nation-building process.

The CNS also complimented the Director-General of NCC for demonstrating exceptional leadership and vision in enhancing the profile of the NCC. Drawing inspiration from Swami Vivekananda’s words, “Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached,” he encouraged the cadets to embrace these ideals. He pointed out that, as a nation with one of the youngest populations, the NCC represents a mini-India that will play a crucial role in leading the country towards becoming a Viksit Bharat (Developed India).

The Admiral also emphasized that the core values of patriotism, commitment, and social service that cadets imbibe during their training will shape them into model citizens, capable of contributing to the growth of the nation. He reiterated the importance of the NCC motto of Unity and Discipline, which he believes will guide the cadets in their personal and professional lives.

Speaking about the collaboration between the Indian Navy and NCC, Admiral Tripathi highlighted several significant training programmes and initiatives from the past year. These included over 200 cadets undergoing training at the Indian Naval Academy in Ezhimala, 100 cadets receiving yachting training at Goa, Kochi, and Vizag, and nearly 250 cadets participating in sea training at Vizag and Mumbai. Additionally, 20 cadets sailed on Naval ships during Overseas Deployment (OSD), visiting 10 countries, while 150 cadets sailed on the INSV Tarangini from Mumbai to Vizag. He praised the participation of NCC cadets in the Coastal Security Exercise ‘Sea Vigil’, emphasizing the increasing role of the cadets in national defense activities.

He also acknowledged the role of the NCC in organizing major events like the All India Nausainik Camp at INS Shivaji, Lonavala, and the All India Yachting Regatta at INS Chilka, which have provided cadets with global exposure and training opportunities.

Before concluding his address, the CNS paid tribute to Late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, reciting his famous poem, Kadam Mila Kar Chalna Hoga, which resonates with the values of unity and collective progress.

As part of his visit, he also toured the ‘Hall of Fame’, where he was briefed on the rich history of the NCC and its achievements. The Admiral also witnessed a cultural programme performed by the talented cadets, further appreciating their dedication and hard work.
