SC to hear plea today for deferment of Bihar bypolls
The Supreme Court is set to hear on Monday a plea seeking the postponement of bye-elections to the four Assembly seats in Bihar in view of the week-long Chhath Puja.
In the notice, the DG alleged that IPS Vikas tried to tarnish her image by making baseless allegations through social media, gives him 24 hours to reply.
Director General (homeguards and fire services) Shobha Ohatkar, Bihar on Friday issued a showcause notice to her junior, IG Vikas Vaibhav, for accusing her of hurling “abuses” at him on a daily basis.
In the showcause notice, the DG alleged that IPS Vikas tried to tarnish the image of his senior officer by making baseless allegations through social media.
DG Shobha Ohatkar, rejecting Vikas’ 60 days leave application, has asked him to reply to the notice within 24 hours. This comes after screenshots of Vikas’ tweet went viral on various social media platforms on Thursday where he alleged that he is enduring the abuses from the DG almost daily.

“Why should action not be taken against him,” the DG asked in the notice.
The showcause notice was served on IPS Vikas citing provisions of Rule 3 of the All India Services Conduct Rules with the allegations of violations of Official Secret Act.
All-India officers on duty are bound to maintain confidentiality while performing their official duty. “If he fails to reply within the stipulated period of time, then she can recommend the government for suitable action against him,” police sources said.
