He further likened AAP to a sinking ship, claiming its ministers and MLAs are either being jailed or abandoning the party due to fear of the Enforcement Directorate.
After a long wait, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday announced its support for opposition candidate Meira Kumar in the forthcoming Presidential election.
Addressing a press conference, AAP's senior party leader Sanjay Singh said that after the meeting of the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) ~ the party's highest decision-making body~ under the leadership of National Convener Arvind Kejriwal, it was decided that AAP MLAs will support Meira Kumar.
"We believe that the presidential and vice-presidential elections should be above partisan politics, where a candidate should be chosen with a common consensus. It is a healthy sign for democracy. But given the circumstances, most parties are supporting Meira Kumar," Singh said.

Singh said Kejriwal also received a call on behalf of Meira Kumar seeking support for her in the elections. He said under the current political atmosphere in the country the role of the opposition is important, and thus the PAC decided to support former Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar.
The AAP has 65 MLAs in Delhi and 20 in Punjab, comprising around 1 percent of the Electoral College.
On 19 June, ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced Bihar Governor Ram Nath Kovind as its Presidential candidate. The election will be held on 17 July, 2017, and counting will be done on 20 July, 2017.
