Coming down heavily on the Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government for its failure to fulfill one of its main poll promises of giving Rs 1,000 per month to all the women above 18 years of age, national spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jaiveer Shergill on Wednesday accused AAP national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, of making false promises and cheating with the people of the Punjab.
In a statement today, Shergill, a prominent Jat Sikh face of the saffron party, said that it was extremely shameful that the AAP government grabbed power in Punjab by making “lucrative” and “false” promises.

“Because of the unfulfilled promise, there is immense resentment among the women in Punjab”, he said, while adding that reality is that the Punjab economy is “crumbling” and the Mann government has no money to fulfill promises made by AAP before the assembly elections.
Pointing out that as per the electoral roll data, Punjab had estimated 1.3 crore women voters, Shergill said, “If all the 1.3 crore women are to be given Rs 1,000 per month, it will require Rs 15,600 crore annually, whereas reality is that state coffers are empty and in order to survive, the cash-strapped AAP government has already borrowed a whopping Rs 30,000 Crore in first nine months of its regime. This makes it amply clear that instead of fulfilling all poll promises, Kejriwal is rather breaking all these promises.”
Taking a dig at Kejriwal, the BJP leader said, “AAP government has not given this financial aid to women in Punjab till date, which exposes AAP as a party of “liars”, while further stating that within just nine months, the AAP government stands completely exposed before the people of Punjab.
