The Uttar Pradesh police have registered the 61st FIR against the jailed mafia don Mukhtar Ansari after 21 years.
Yet another murder case has been registered against Ansari in connection with the Usri Chatti murder case that took place in Muhammadabad Kotwali area of Ghazipur district in 2001.
According to police sources, action has been taken on receipt of the complaint of Shailendra Rai, the father of deceased Manoj Rai. With this FIR, the number of cases filed against Mukhtar has gone up to 61.
As soon as the case was registered on January 20 last, the picture of the Usri Chatti murder case changed.
Earlier Mukhtar had charged and filed FIR against Brajesh Singh and Tribhavan Singh for the killing of Manoj Rai.
Shailendra Kumar Rai, a resident of Sagar Rajpur in Bihar’s Buxar district in his complaint to the police, said that his contractor son Manoj Rai, went with Surendra Sharma (Mukhtar’s driver), Shahid, Gaus Moinuddin and Kamal in the evening of July 14, 200 .
On the evening of July 15, 2001, information about the murder of Manoj was received. Manoj used to do contract work for Mukhtar but rift started between Manoj and Mukhtar over some tenders.
Shailendra Rai, the father of the deceased contractor, recently met ADG Prashant Kumar and urged him to file an FIR against Mukhtar.
Notably, on 15 July in 2001, Mukhtar Ansari, the then MLA, was going to Mau. At 12.30 pm, his convoy was fired upon by attackers with automatic weapons at Usri Chatti.
In this firing, Mukhtar Ansari’s official gunner Ramchander alias Pradeep died on the spot. Two others including Manoj Rai also died. Mukhtar Ansari had filed a case against 15 people including Brijesh Singh and Tribhuvan Singh.
