Three militants were killed late on Tuesday by the Army while trying to infiltrate the line of control (LoC) in Gurez sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Defence sources said a group of infiltrating militants were challenged by alert troops of the army in Baktur area of Gurez sector on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Pakistan army resorted to unprovoked shelling and firing at Indian positions on Wednesday on the LoC in Rajouri district.
One woman on Wednesday succumbed to her injuries after being hit in Pakistan shelling in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
The victim, Rahmi Bhat, from Bagtore area near the Line of Control (LoC) in Gurez sector was hit by a mortar splinter late on Tuesday.
Earlier on Tuesday, Two Pakistani soldiers and an Indian soldier were killed in heavy firing by Indian and Pakistani troops along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir after Pakistan resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation.
The Pakistani side had resorted to unprovoked firing in Sunderbani area which expanded to Tangdhar and Karen sector. A soldier, Naik Krishan Lal, was killed in Jammu’s Sunderbani area. The Indian side effectively retaliated and two Pakistani soldiers were killed in Tangdhar area.
Meanwhile, India on Tuesday made a strong demarche with the Pakistan High Commission against the killing of an Indian civilian in an unprovoked act of firing by Pakistan forces.
For the last three days, Pakistan has been continuously violating the ceasefire.
On Sunday, a nine-day-old infant was killed and two civilians injured after Pakistan targeted military and civilian facilities in Shahpur and Saujiyan sectors.
