Omar leads ministers, officials to border Poonch district
This was the first outreach of Omar after becoming CM of Jammu and Kashmir.
On the first day, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will visit India Gate lawns to inaugurate ‘Parakram Parv’ and will also interact with children.
A three-day event will be held from 28 September commemorating the surgical strike by the Indian Army across the border inside Pakistan Occupied Kashmir in 2016 destroying terrorist camps. IT will be marked as “Parakram Parv.”
“The Indian Army conducted surgical strikes which had strategic ramifications and were aimed to dissuade inimical adversary from adopting the path of violence and to ensure an environment of peace for the nation,” said an official release.
The main event is planned in India Gate Lawns here while similar events will be held in 53 locations in 51 cities across the country showcasing events highlighting the valour of Indian Armed Forces in general and Special Forces in particular.

The programme will start with a bugle call at 6.30 p.m. Thereafter, movies and photographs depicting valour and courage of the Armed forces will be shown. Huge canvas and digital signing walls for sending messages to the soldiers will help citizens connect with them.
Visitors will get the opportunity to see captured weapons used by terrorists that have been brought from Jammu and Kashmir. Military equipment like artillery guns and small arms will also be on display. On 29 and 30 September, noted singers are scheduled to perform at the venue apart from the military band.
According to the release, people would be encouraged to take selfies at all venues, including India Gate and post them on social networking sites with #ParakramParv.
