Vice-President Dhankhar says Act East Policy has brought about transformative impact in NE
Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar said on Wednesday that the Act East Policy has brought about a transformative impact in the North Eastern Region of India.
As many as 25,000 voluntary organisations, including schools and madrasas, in the country are receiving foreign funds, Lok Sabha was informed on Tuesday.
"As per available information, there are more than 25,000 active voluntary organisations, including schools and madrasas, who are receiving assistance from foreign countries," Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said in a written reply.

Rijiju said Islamic preacher Zakir Naik's NGO, Islamic Research Foundation, has been proscribed under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act for links to terrorism.

"There are no current direct inputs to indicate that any other FCRA-registered NGO, has come to the notice for misuse of foreign contribution to spread terrorism," he said.
