As many as 15 persons were killed and six others were injured in two major road mishaps in the Sikar and Hanumangarh districts of Rajasthan.
In one incident, ten persons died when three vehicles, including a pickup van and bike, were involved in multiple collisions on Khandela-Palsana road in the Sikar district on Sunday. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals, and Jaipur’s SMS Hospital.
Details of the deceased were yet to be ascertained, a police official said here.
In another incident, five out of six friends were killed when the SUV in which they were travelling collided head on with a brick laden dumper truck on Rawatsar-Sardarshar mega highway in Hanumangarh district at around 11:30 last night.
Three of them died on the spot, while two others succumbed to their injuries after reaching a hospital in the Pallu town, Station House Officer (SHO) Gopiram told SNS when contacted. The sixth injured has been referred to a hospital in Bikaner this morning, he said.
The deceased were identified as Raju, 24, Naresh, 28, Danaram, 32, Bablu, 28, and Murli, 28. The police said they were on their way to Pallu from Bisarasar in their SUV – Duster – collided with a dumper. The condition of Ashok Kumar, the sixth occupant of the vehicle, is said to be critical.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra and Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot have expressed their deep grief over the loss of lives in tragic incidents.
