More than 15 MLAs leaving Congress, everyone is distressed: Alpesh Thakor

“It was our decision and the voice of my conscience that we don’t want to be here (in Congress). We want to work for our people and the poor with the help of the government. Wait and watch, more than 15 MLAs are leaving Congress, everyone is distressed. More than half of the MLAs are upset,” said Alpesh.

Alpesh Thakor, the Gujarat MLA from Radhanpur and OBC leader, on Tuesday, said that a large number of Congress MLAs are going to leave the party. He said the reason for their decision is that they are feeling distressed and upset with the functioning of the party. He also raised the issue of discontent among a section of the OBCs.

“My people are poor and backward. They need the support of the government. I was disturbed that I couldn’t give that to my people what I had intended to. My organisation voiced their opinion that we need not be there where we don’t have respect and there’s no talk of their rights,” ANI quoted Alpesh Thakor as saying.

Thakor had joined the Congress just before the Gujarat Legislative Assembly elections in 2017 and he won from the Radhanpur constituency. He quit the party in April just ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

Criticising the Congress, Thakor, on Tuesday, said that the Congress leaders who keep on claiming that some scam has taken place are not in a proper state of mind.

“Congress failed to understand what people actually want. They only repeatedly shouted ‘ghotala hua, ghotala hua’ (scam happened, scam happened). There was no scam, the scam was in their minds, the ‘chemical locha’ (mental imbalance) was in their minds,” said Alpesh while talking to ANI, adding that the party is only full of “chela chapatas” (sycophants), adding that the Congress was bound to be defeated in the recently concluded general elections as it has no presence at the ground and only emphasizes on organizing press conferences.
