Two held as cops unearth drug cartel in city
Two people including a Nigerian national were arrested for distributing restricted drugs across the nation with the seizure of naro-substance worth Rs 4 crore.
An arms supplier, Setha Bhagel from Morena, MP, was arrested by the special cell. He used to procure illegal firearms from Khargone, MP and supply them to the criminals in Delhi-NCR and adjoining areas.
With the recovery of 12 illegal semi-automatic pistols from an active member of an illegal firearms supplying gang, a special cell of the Delhi Police has succeeded in busting an interstate illegal firearms syndicate in Delhi.
An accused, Setha Bhagel from Morena, MP, was arrested by the special cell. He used to procure illegal firearms from Khargone, MP and supply them to the criminals in Delhi-NCR and adjoining areas. He has confessed to indulging in arms trafficking for over five years.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Promod Singh Kushwaha said in view of forthcoming Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections, increased surveillance was mounted by the teams of Special Cell on the firearms suppliers from Madhya Pradesh who have been supplying arms and ammunition in Delhi-NCR in the past.

Specific information about accused Setha Bhagel coming near DDA Park, Mayur Vihar was received by the team of Special Cell on December 1. Immediately, a team led by Inspector Karamveer Singh and Inspector Pawan Kumar was formed and a trap was laid near DDA Park, Mayur Vihar.
At about 1:15 pm, the accused was apprehended by the members of the team with a bag in his possession and recovered 12 semi-automatic pistols from him.
During interrogation, the accused disclosed that he had received the consignment from an arms manufacturer-cum-supplier of Khargone in MP. It has been revealed that he has already supplied more than 400 firearms in Delhi-NCR during the last 5 years.
He has also disclosed that he used to procure a semi-automatic pistol at Rs 8,000 from MP and further used to sell it at Rs 25,000 30,000 the criminals in Delhi-NCR and neighboring states.
The accused has been taken on police remand for further interrogation to ascertain the identity of the remaining members of the syndicate.
