“Pacyon Foundation is proud to be chosen for such a prestigious international theatre festival! We will be performing on 17th Feb, 2024 at N D Tiwari Auditorium in Ramnagar, Uttarakhand!,” the company said.
The play depicts the aftermath of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. It shows how martial law was forcibly imposed on the people who were publicly whipped and made to clean dirt, incidents which shook the whole of Punjab.
The play director attempts to analyze the cause of this massacre and its aftermath, so that the people who are not fully aware of this incident can come to know about it and most importantly the youth.
“The play is based on the information, testimonies and statements published in the Hunter Committee investigation report, published in the disorder inquiry committee & Evidence ( 1919-20). Till date people have limited information through films and plays, as to the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
“But what happened next and how it happened remains unknown to most. It is important that we all know the full story as with the knowledge of the past comes the responsibility of a better tomorrow. Only after this incident the torch of independence for the country was lit in the true sense and the whole country, unitedly, jumped into the struggle for freedom!,” Kumar added.
