Bollywood actor Tahir Raj Bhasin is all set to play the role of cricketer Sunil Gavaskar in Kabir Khan directorial ’83. The upcoming film stars Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev and traces the historic victory of the 1983 World Cup.
The makers of the film shared the news on social media and wrote, “Presenting @TahirRajBhasin as Sunny urf the Original Little Master, #SunilGavaskar. #CastOf83.”

Tahir Raj Bhasin confirmed the news to Mid Day and said, “It is a massive responsibility to portray one of the greatest batsmen in Indian cricket history. For now, I’m focusing on striking the ball with half the panache that Gavaskar did.”
Bhasin is known for his films like Force 2, Mardaani and Manto and has largely played negative characters.
Apart from Ranveer Singh and Tahir, the film casts, YouTuber Sahil Khatter as Syed Kirmani, Tamil film star Jiiva was finalised to play the role of former Indian cricket captain Krishnamachari Srikkanth, Punjabi singer-actor Ammy Virk was finalised to play the role of Balwinder Singh Sandhu and Pankaj Tripathi as man Singh.
The film ’83 would be Ranveer Singh’s first trilingual film — to be made in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
Presented by Reliance Entertainment and produced by Madhu Mantena, Vishnu Induri & Kabir Khan, the film will be released on 10 April 2020.
