Suzhal- The Vortex, with its powerful storyline, emerges as the most engaging series of the year. Pushkar-Gayathri has left everyone stunned with the gripping story. The filmmaker duo has made a concoction of fascinating well-researched facts, unearthed myths, and an ultimate tale of secrets, that has made people stay glued till the end of the 8th episode.
The series opens up with a big mystery of a missing girl that goes on unfolding different chapters with every episode. The story too brings up many questions for the audience like, Who is to blame when a young girl goes missing? Can anyone be trusted? Could it be a stranger or a close one? Why was the girl wandering alone in the night, while the entire village was gathered, celebrating a festival? Is there a connection between the missing girl and the factory that has just been burnt down? These are kind of some doubts that are worth watching out for.

Writers and creators duo Gayatri & Pushkar who have to delve deeper into the process share, “So, for the story to progress in this way, we need what’s called reversals. That’s what we call it in screenwriting terminology. The reversals work over here because they are operating on two levels. One, is the plot has twists and turns in it and the other interesting thing is the characters have twists and turns in it.
They further add, “Now these two might be linked, might not be linked. The character’s reversals might happen because of the plot or they could happen because of a perspective. So having those two gives us scope to bring these grand twists and turns to play in every episode. You have to watch the next episode, you can’t stop with one. It’s like those chips, you have to have more chips, and can stop at one. We wanted to have that reversal at the end of every episode which will have people reaching for ‘continue to play. People are getting gripped to the twists and turns we have weaved in.”
Writers and creators duo Gayatri & Pushkar said, “We tried to get the best actors for doing these roles. we were not casting against type too much. We just had a one-to-one conversation and identified who is perfect for which role.”
The features star cast like Parthiban, Sriya Reddy, Aishwarya Rajesh, Kathir, and more act as a connected dot with a dark past that will anger you and provoke you.
Writers and creators duo Gayatri & Pushkar said, “Crime and thriller generally have a lot of attraction. The audience loves to watch movies around these plots. Also, it is a social drama that not only brings out thrill but also shows how that crime affects that village. The background, star cast, theme, and music all are very catchy, and when they are put together here then Suzal becomes a head-turner.”
They further added, “this series will provide the grandness of cinema to the audience on the OTT platform.”
Writers and creators duo Gayatri & Pushkar said, “these days people prefer watching films from all-region. Bengali, Malayalam, Gujarati, and many more are getting recognition among the people and this is only because they are having easy access. After the pandemic, people prefer to watch more those films which have more content and this proves that language is not a barrier now. There are more availabilities like subtitles, and dubbing, so this makes it easy for the audience to connect.
Writers and creators duo Gayatri & Pushkar said, “this story specifically required that. When we started writing it ended up into bigger content which was hard to fit into features. So this is why we choose OTT and not film. It gave us the chance to explore in deep all the characters and angles of the story.”
From the house of Pushkar and Gayatri, Suzhal- The Vortex premiered in 30+ languages on 17th June on Prime Video.
