The TV actress gained popularity for her portrayal of an IPS officer in Doordarshan’s “Udaan.” The series was inspired by the true story of Kanchan Chaudhary Bhattacharya, a 1973 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer who happens to be the sister of Kavita Chaudhary.
In the late 1980s, she was also well-known as the face of HUL’s Surf detergent commercials in India, where she portrayed the character of Lalita Ji, a housewife.
Kavita also made two additional television shows, “Your Honour” and “IPS Diaries.”
Fans were shocked by the passing of Chaudhaury. One user reminisced, “When we were young, she was my hero,” while another commented, “She was the iconic actress of the 80s; so graceful.” A third user remembered her, asking, “Is she the actress from ‘Udaan’? May her soul rest in peace.”
