Koratala Siva’s ‘Devara’ starring Jr NTR, Saif Ali Khan, and Janhvi Kapoor created significant buzz ahead of release. However, the film failed to impress netizens and amass critical acclaim. Despite slow box office records after the initial week of run, the film managed to emerge as a commercial success. Given the lukewarm response, speculations stirred that the makers might shelve ‘Devara 2’. Rebuffing the rumours, a recent report confirms production plans.

As per a Mid-day report, ‘Devara 2’ is very much in the pipeline and currently in the scripting stage. A source close to the production revealed details about the slated sequel. “It will be bigger than its prequel, with all the characters having more evolved arcs. Vara (Jr NTR), Thangam (Kapoor), Bhaira (Saif Ali Khan), Singappa (Prakash Raj), Task Force Chief Shivam (Ajay), and Rayappa (Meka Srikanth) will return to the screen in a more dynamic way.” Moreover, the source added that Vara will have more screen space in the upcoming film. Notably, the first instalment attracted criticism for limited screen time for the lead cast. “The reason why Vara killed his own father will also be revealed. Devara Part 2 will be set in more contemporary times.”

‘Devara 2’ will also see key cast members reprising their roles from the first title. Additionally, the title will also introduce new actors into the film series. Spilling details about the cinematography, the source revealed that the slated title will feature more water sequences. This is going to enhance the grand visual spectacle of the film. Moreover, the action sequences are going to get bloodier. “The scripting process for Devara Part 2, led by director Koratala Siva and his dedicated team, has begun in earnest. The makers plan to pick up from the cliffhanger in Part 1.”

Meanwhile, a clear date for the production plan is not available at the moment. Notably, Jr NTR is currently busy with two tantalising projects. The star has Ayan Mukerji’s ‘War 2’ and Prashanth Neel’s period drama in the pipeline. Both titles are likely to conclude filming this year.

‘Devara’ starred the Man of the Masses, Jr NTR in a double role with Janhavi Kapoor as his love interest. Saif Ali Khan appeared as the formidable antagonist.
