Celebrated K-pop boyband SEVENTEEN member Jeonghan announced his military service on September 12. The boyband’s agency, PLEDIS Entertainment, made the announcement with a statement. They noted that the K-pop idol will be part of pre-recorded content but will be absent from the promotions of their 12th mini-album, which is set to release this October. Additionally, Jeonghan will be missing from the anticipated RIGHT HERE World Tour.

The statement from PLEDIS Entertainment reads, “We wish to share the news of Jeonghan’s upcoming enlistment in the military, scheduled for September 26, 2024. As announced previously, he will not be able to take part in the promotional activities for SEVENTEEN’s 12th mini-album and the world tour. However, he will appear in various pre-recorded content. There will be no official event on the day of his enlistment. We kindly request that you refrain from visiting the site of his military service. Please send your heartfelt messages of support for Jeonghan through Weverse. We ask for your continued love and support for the artist and kindly send your best wishes for his safe and healthy return. We will also remain committed to providing Jeonghan with all the necessary support during this time.”

Meanwhile, on September 9, SEVENTEEN took the stage at Lollapalooza Berlin 2024 and captivated the audience with their high-octane performances. Their set included some of their biggest hits like ‘Super,’ ‘Cheers,’ and more, as well as classics like ‘Very Nice.’ The group performed without Jun, who was preoccupied with prior work commitments. The group previously announced their highly awaited World Tour, which will kick off on October 12. The tour will not include Jeonghan.

In related news, ahead of their grand comeback, the boyband won the Best Group award at the 2024 Video Music Awards (VMAs). Moreover, last month, the group made headlines by surpassing BTS in August’s Brand Reputation rankings.  They claimed the top spot on the coveted list. On June 26, SEVENTEEN was appointed as UNESCO’s first-ever Goodwill Ambassador for Youth. Additionally, the K-pop group headlined this year’s Glastonbury Festival in the UK, becoming the first-ever K-pop group to do so.
