The controversy sparked by Ranveer Allahbadia’s comments on the YouTube show India’s Got Latent, hosted by Samay Raina, continues to generate buzz, with actor Sahil Salathia adding his voice to the discussion. Salathia, known for his roles in films like ‘Panipat’, recently expressed his thoughts on the responsibility that comes with being a content creator, especially in light of viral content trends.
Speaking at the FDCI India Men’s Fashion Weekend in Jaipur, where he walked the ramp for designer Mandira Wirk, Salathia emphasized the significant influence creators wield, particularly over young audiences.

In a candid conversation with ANI, he said, “It’s unfortunate, but our literacy rate is not very high. If you use a lot of foul language, you’re going to get views. And if you do clickbait and use big names, you’re going to get views. If you bring people on a show and humiliate them, you’re going to get views because people enjoy that.”

Salathia highlighted that the rise of sensationalist content often prioritizes shock value over substance, which, he believes, has harmful consequences. He pointed out that many young viewers look up to creators, even if they don’t idolize them, and as a result, creators must be mindful of the examples they set.
“As creators, whether we are artists, actors, musicians, or designers, we all have a sense of responsibility,” he explained. “I don’t like it when people say, ‘I’m not responsible. I got my check. I’m popular.’ No, you are responsible. A lot of kids and young people look up to you. Even if they don’t idolize you, they still pick up certain habits from you.”
Referring to the ongoing controversy involving Allahbadia and Raina, Salathia chose not to take sides but did offer a thoughtful critique.
“That being said, Ranveer is a friend. He’s a wonderful guy, and he makes amazing videos on spirituality,” he said.
However, he added, “I believe your company matters a lot. If you surround yourself with pigs, things are going to get dirty because everyone’s fighting in the mud.”
Salathia suggested that creators should ensure their environment and the brands they associate with reflect their values and maintain ethical standards.
While Sahil Salathia acknowledged that Allahbadia had issued an apology, he stressed that the incident should serve as a reminder for all content creators to exercise caution in their actions.
“Maybe, if he’s apologized, it’s time to let it go, but it definitely shouldn’t happen again,” he added. He also raised a lighthearted point about the show’s title, saying, “India’s got talent, man, not latent. What is that?”
The controversy erupted when Allahbadia made disparaging remarks during an episode of India’s Got Latent. The backlash led to the deletion of all related content by Samay Raina, while Allahbadia and his family received death threats. FIRs have been filed against both Allahbadia and Raina in Maharashtra and Assam.
