After breaking the opening day records of films like Dangal and Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Baahubali 2 fails to keep the momentum at the box office over the opening weekend.

SS Rajamouli magnum opus, which is the highest grossing Indian film of 2017, has fallen short of expectations in the first weekend as the film only collected Rs 51.20-crore.

Baahubali 2 kick-started on a strong note by collecting $ 2.43mn ( Rs 15-crore roughly) but failed to follow up the business over the next two days.

Interestingly, the film, which debuted at the third spot and became the third best opener in the country, is now at the bottom in the opening weekend list of films released in China.

Secret Superstar: $29.2 mn

Hindi Medium (extended weekend): $21.25 mn

Dangal: $14.5 mn

Bajrangi Bhaijaan: $9 mn

Baahubali 2: $7.80mn

Despite the number of screens, the film received for its release (more than 7,000) and media buzz, Baahubali 2 has failed to rewrite history at the box office.

The film, which earned a staggering amount of Rs 1750-crore in its lifetime run across the globe in 2017, failed to make an impact on the Chinese audiences.

The film’s first week collection is really crucial as it will decided the film’s standing in both the lists of highest grossing films across the globe and in China.

Baahubali 2 starring Prabhas and Rana Daggubati in the lead roles was released on May 3 in China.
