Rapper Raftaar explained how society admires celebrities and achievers, yet swiftly judges them when they falter. He reflected on the role of media in amplifying these moments, feeding public curiosity with sensationalized coverage.
He also touched on the psychology behind this behavior, mentioning emotions like “envy” and “schadenfreude”—the pleasure derived from someone else’s misfortune. According to Raftaar, this culture of negativity can lead to harmful consequences, including the rise of cancel culture and general cynicism.
“People often enjoy seeing successful individuals fail. We admire celebrities but are quick to judge when they stumble,” Raftaar wrote.
The controversy erupted after Allahbadia’s inappropriate comment on India’s Got Latent sparked widespread outrage. During a recent episode, he made a disturbing joke while questioning a contestant, which many found offensive.
The comment prompted a formal complaint against Allahbadia, comedian Samay Raina, social media influencer Apoorva Makhija, and the show’s organizers.
In response to the backlash, Samay Raina issued a statement on Instagram, apologizing for the incident and clarifying his intent. He removed all videos of India’s Got Latent from his channel and assured followers that he was fully cooperating with authorities to ensure a fair investigation.
“My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time,” Samay wrote, expressing that the situation had become overwhelming.
