In March 2018, Rani Mukerji had an “off-beat” film Hichki which performed well not just at the box-office but also was critically acclaimed for its choice of subject.
Rani Mukerji had played the lead role of an aspiring teacher having Tourette syndrome who had to prove herself by educating a group of underprivileged students.
Apparently, in the new movie, Rani will be seen essaying the role of a superintendent of police. In the 2014 film, she had played a cop.
She “will be locked in a vicious battle with a 21-year old villain who is absolutely merciless,” sources revealed.
The cat and mouse game between the actor and a very clever villain is the basic plot-line of the film.
In Mardaani, Rani’s character took on the kingpin of a child-trafficking racket. The audience will have to wait to see what the sequel would bring.
The film also marks the directorial debut of Gopi Puthran who had written the first Mardaani film.
The film is slated to release this year.
