Singer Aaron Carter was briefly hospitalised after he was body-shamed by fans on social media.

Carter, 29, recently opened up about his hiatal hernia diagnosis, saying the stress-related medical condition makes it difficult for him to eat, reported Us weekly.

The I Want Candy singer, in a series of tweets, expressed his displeasure over the comments made by his fans on his weight. “I'm entirely hurt by a so-called fan that I just encountered. She wasn't realising I was listening, she said I look like I have cancer. This is body shaming. You guys are bullying me. I've already addressed my medical issues. #bodyshaming,” he wrote.

The pop star, who is the younger brother of Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter, reminded fans that the past few days have been tough for him and his family as his father, Bob Carter, died last month.

“I've literally had the hardest week of my life, my dad passed away, my late sisters birthday anniversary was June 6th and people #BodyShame me (sic),” Aaron continued.

Hours later, the singer told fans that he headed to the emergency room “to get a little check up,” sharing photos of himself in a wheelchair and a hospital bed.

“I'll recover,” he wrote before promising to “work on getting bigger physically.”
