Mumbai Police doesn’t spare anyone when it comes to not abiding the rules, not even the film stars. So it came as no surprise to many when the Mumbai Police called out Malayalam superstar Dulquer Salman for using a phone while driving.
It all started after Sonam Kapoor, who will star alongside the actor in their forthcoming film Zoya Factor, shared a video showing Dulquer browsing his phone while behind the wheel of a moving car.
Sonam is apparently heard calling Dulquer “weirdo”.

Mumbai Police reshared the video, which was later deleted, with a smart response on Twitter.
“We agree with you @sonamakapoor ! Quite a ‘weirdo’ to try such stunts while driving and putting the lives of fellow drivers at risk too! We don’t quite approve of these even in ‘reel’ life. #NotDone,” the tweet read.

The Neerja actor corrected them and clarified that the car was actually rigged.
“We weren’t driving we were rigged on a truck.. but I’m glad you guys are concerned. I hope and I know you show the same interest in regular folk as well! Thanks for taking care! #Reelvsreal @dulQuer,” she wrote.
Not the one to back down, Mumbai Police gave a brilliant response to the “regular” reference.
“For us, No Mumbaikar is ‘regular’ they are all ‘special’! And we are equally concerned about them all. Glad to know your safety wasn’t ‘rigged’. @sonamakapoor,” read a tweet posted by the force.

Later, Dulquer, the son of Malayalam film legend Mammootty, himself took to Twitter and explained the situation.
“Would appreciate it if you had checked some facts before tweeting this. In fact @MumbaiPolice helped us with permissions and traffic management during the shoot and were present the whole time. In my next tweet attaching the video I was shooting. #notawierdo,” he wrote.
“We appreciate that you weren’t indulging in any irresponsible violation. A good example for all your fans @dulQuer,” Mumbai police replied.
