Mithun Chakraborty faces FIR in Kolkata over provocative remarks
Kolkata Police files FIR against actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty for alleged provocative remarks made at a recent party meeting, citing potential for incitement.
On Monday, the Delhi High Court directed the city police to register a case against Mahaakshay Chakraborty, son of Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty, for allegedly raping a Bhojpuri actress, impregnating her and causing a miscarriage without her consent. The actress had brought charges of raping on the pretext of marriage against Mahaakshay. His mother Yogita Bali has also been accused of threatening the actress of severe consequences.
According to the court order, all this started in 2015. The actress alleged that Mahaakshay spiked her soft drink when he raped her the first time. The woman claimed that she had been sexually abused for four years. When she got pregnant, she added, Mahaakshay gave her medicines to get the foetus aborted. “He did not want any child or interruption in his career at this stage due to which the actor got the pregnancy aborted,” the complaint added.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ekta Gauba said prima facie there were sufficient grounds for registration of an FIR against Yogita Bali and Mahaakshay and to proceed further in accordance with law.

Taking note of the accusations made by the woman, the court said an investigation by the police was necessary “keeping in view the high and influential status of respondents 1 and 2 being the son and the wife of renowned and veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty”.
“In light of the aforesaid reasoning, I find that in the present case, prima facie, there are sufficient grounds for registration of FIR,” the court said.
