The fan identified as Ravi Raghuram reportedly met the superstar every year on his birthday but was allegedly prevented from entering Yash’s residence this year.
The 26-year-old poured petrol and set himself on fire allegedly because he couldn’t meet Yash. The victim was then taken to Victoria Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
According to The News Minute, Ravi’s last words were also about the actor.
“When we were dressing his wounds, Ravi asked the doctors whether Yash would come to see him, now that he was struggling between life and death,” Dr KT Ramesh said.
The KGF actor visited the hospital to enquire about Ravi, where he spoke to the media and strongly stood against fans taking such drastic steps.
“He has clicked selfies with me on my birthday. I’m sorry to say but this is not fandom and I don’t believe he can be a fan. I request my fans to never take such drastic steps. A few days before my birthday, I had put out a video saying I am not celebrating my birthday this year. This is very hurtful,” he said.
Ravi’s father Ramanna spoke to the news portal about his son’s admiration towards Yash.
“I told him not to step outside the house. He wanted to go and meet Yash. Last year too, we had gone to Yash’s house on his birthday just so my son could wish him. We saw him and came back home. This time, he was initially upset when I told him not to go but he relented and said he would stay at home. I fell asleep and did not notice when he left. Last week, when KGF released, he went and watched the film. He would force us to watch every movie in which Yash acted in,” he said.
