Singer and actress Jennifer Hudson was recently recognized at the GLAAD Ally Awards in New York City for her dedication to portraying the LGBTQ community fairly and positively in the media, as reported by People.
Joining the ranks of past honorees like Marren Morris, Julianne Moore, and Tyra Banks, Hudson expressed her gratitude in her acceptance speech. “You’re beautiful. You’re amazing. Do you all know how beautiful you are? Do you know your stories deserve to be told?” she shared with the audience.
Hudson reflected on her own journey, recalling how the GLAAD community had always made her feel accepted and loved. She emphasized the importance of using one’s voice for advocacy, drawing inspiration from icons like Patti LaBelle and Aretha Franklin, who encouraged her to speak up beyond just singing.

Her speech echoed a message of inclusivity and support, as she vowed to create a space where everyone feels celebrated and valued. “Whatever you are going through, if you want to be celebrated, just know you can always, I got you back. Jennifer Hudson is going to cheer you up. Okay?” she reassured the crowd.
The moment also stirred memories of her late mother, Darnell Donerson, who instilled in her the value of actions over words. Hudson emphasized the importance of standing together, supporting one another, and actively representing each other.
