The history between Diesel and Johnson is well-documented. Their feud began during their time on the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise, with reports of clashing egos on set.
Johnson stepped away from the main series after ‘The Fate of the Furious’ (2017), even declining Diesel’s public invitation in 2021 to return for ‘Fast X’. At the time, Johnson called the plea “manipulative” and insisted he was done with the franchise.
Yet, fans stunned in 2023 when Johnson made a surprise appearance as Luke Hobbs in a mid-credits scene for ‘Fast X’. This unexpected cameo marked the end of their feud and set the stage for their reunion in the upcoming 11th installment of the ‘Fast & Furious’ saga.
Diesel’s nod to Johnson at the Golden Globes seemed to underline their renewed camaraderie. The two stars will soon share the screen again in ‘Fast & Furious 11’, much to the delight of fans.
Diesel, meanwhile, is keeping busy with ‘xXx 4’, the latest chapter in the high-octane action series where the actor reprises his role as Xander Cage.
Adding to the intrigue, John Cena, who also stars in the ‘Fast & Furious’ films, commented on their past tensions during a 2024 appearance on Dax Shepard’s ‘Armchair Expert’ podcast. “You’ve got two very alpha personalities,” Cena said. “When you put them together, sparks are inevitable.”
Johnson’s journey in the ‘Fast’ franchise began with ‘Fast Five’ (2011) and included several sequels and the spinoff ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ (2019).
With Diesel and Johnson seemingly on better terms, fans are hopeful their renewed partnership will bring fresh energy to the ‘Fast’ universe—and perhaps even ‘xXx 4’.
