Renowned comedian and beloved Curb Your Enthusiasm star, Richard Lewis, passed away at the age of 76. His representative, Jeff Abraham, confirmed the news, stating that Lewis peacefully succumbed to a heart attack at his Los Angeles home. His wife, Joyce Lapinsky, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and requested privacy during this time of mourning.

Lewis had publicly disclosed his battle with Parkinson’s disease in April 2023, leading to his retirement from comedy, a career he had adorned with his signature self-deprecating humor. He was a familiar face on Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, delighting audiences with his portrayal in over 40 episodes spanning from 2000 to 2021.

Beyond his role on Curb Your Enthusiasm, Lewis graced the screens in various TV shows and films. Lewis also showcased his comedic talent on the big screen, featuring in films such as Robin Hood: Men in Tights and Leaving Las Vegas.

Despite battling health issues, including undergoing multiple back surgeries, Lewis remained committed to his craft. He humorously referred to himself as the “Prince of Pain” and embarked on comedy tours with titles like I’m in Pain, I’m Exhausted, and I’m Doomed.

In reflecting on his life, Lewis candidly acknowledged his struggles, stating, “No, I’m not a very happy man… But there’s just a part of me that’s always going to be never totally happy. And I think that has a lot to do with my childhood.”

Richard Lewis leaves behind his wife, whom he married in 2005, and a legacy of laughter cherished by fans worldwide. While he may have departed from this world, his unique brand of humor and his indelible mark on the entertainment industry will continue to resonate for years to come.
