Alongside the video, Springsteen included lyrics from his 1998 song “The Wish,” a heartfelt ode written for his mother. The song narrates the story of Adele’s sacrificial act of purchasing a guitar for her son despite financial constraints.

Adele was a devoted attendee at her son’s shows for many decades, often gracing the stage with him for impromptu dances. Springsteen disclosed her Alzheimer’s diagnosis a decade ago, expressing how the disease had taken its toll, robbing her of many abilities. Despite the challenges, he highlighted the enduring power of her love and the joy that music brought to her life.

Adele Zerilli, born on May 4, 1925, to Italian immigrants in Brooklyn, married Douglas Springsteen in 1948. The couple met in New Jersey, eventually settling in Freehold, where they raised Bruce and his sisters. Adele worked as a legal secretary for 47 years and played a pivotal role in holding the family together, especially during challenging times.
