Two of the much-anticipated films of Bollywood– Manikarnika and Thackeray— are slated to release on the same day. Earlier, Emraan Hashmi starrer Cheat India was also scheduled to release on January 25, which was later preponed to January 18.
Reportedly, the makers of Cheat India, whose title has been changed to Why Cheat India now, were requested to advance their release day so that Thackeray gets a solo release.
The lead actress of Manikarnika, Kangana Ranaut, recently interacted with media at the music launch of the film wherein she said that no one asked them to advance or delay the release of the film which is clashing with late Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray’s biographical film at the box office.

“We haven’t been approached by anyone who has requested or forced us either to prepone or postpone release of our film,” Kangana said.
“We haven’t been pressurised by anyone, so we are very happy that we have got a sort of a big window to release our film on Republic Day weekend. I think two films can easily come on the same day and so far, nobody has pressurised us. It will be completely wrong to say that we have been approached or pressurised to do something that we didn’t want to do,” she added.
Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi is a film that captures the life story of Rani Laxmibai. Directed by Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi and Kangana Ranaut, the film also stars Danny Denzongpa, Ankita Lokhande, and Atul Kulkarni.
Helmed by Zee Studios and Kamal Jain, the film is slated to release next year on January 25.
