From a young age, the actor was interested in arts and acting. He appeared as a child artiste in the film Yaadon Ki Baarat for a brief scene.
Aamir made his debut in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak in 1989. The debut film was a box office hit and made Aamir an overnight star. He also won numerous awards for his performance in the film.
Throughout the 90s, Aamir solidified his status as the leading man of Bollywood with films like Raakh, Andaz Apna Apna, Rangeela, Raja Hindustani, Ghulam, Earth and Sarfarosh.
His last film before taking a hiatus from work was the 2001 film Dil Chahta Hai.. Aamir made his comeback after five years to films with Mangal Pandey and followed it with Rang De Basanti, Fanna and Taare Zameen Par.
Aamir’s selective range of films, which are socially relevant, gave him the title of Mr Perfectionist for outshining every role he performed.
Following 2008, Aamir started to appear in films that became huge commercial and critical success across the globe. The actor appeared in Ghajini, 3 Idiots, Talaash and Dhoom 3, all of which were much appreciated by the fans and drew big numbers at the ticket window.
But what makes Aamir Khan the biggest superstar across the world is his last series of films that rank among the highest grossing films of all time in China and India.
Aamir’s last three films PK, Dangal and Secret Superstar proved to be game changer of Hindi films in China as collectively all three films hold approximate collections of close to $500-mn.
The recent past has been a testimony of the mass hysteria Aamir Khan and his work have generated, not just in India but the world over too.
Aamir’s popularity in the countries (India and China) which contribute to half of the world’s population (3 billion people), proves that why he is one of the biggest superstars in the world.
After the mammoth success of his last two films, Aamir has emerged the most watched non-Chinese actor there.
A humble Aamir, reacting to his fans calling him the biggest superstar worldwide says, “Yes, it’s a fact that since India and China have the maximum number of people, if you’re popular in these two countries, you already have close to three billion people liking you and that is half the world’s population. America has around 650 million people, and all of Europe put together has around 750 million people. There’s no comparison when it comes to India and China. On numbers, the West can’t beat us.”
Not just commercial success, the actor is also one of the most elite actors as he has delivered many classic performances in all these years.
Aamir is one of the most decorated superstars with numerous awards and honours to his name. But some of the honours are indeed proud worthy.
The Dangal actor is one of the three people from India, who has been nominated at The Academy Awards for his film. He is also a multiple-time winner at both Filmfare and National Film Awards. Aamir is also a jury member at the Berlin Film Festival.
With all these accolades and a fan following that is in billions, Aamir is indeed the world’s biggest superstar and we wish the actor a very happy birthday on his 53rd birthday and hopes he continues to entertain everyone with his fine performances.
