The award season has finally begun and the glistening evening of Los Angeles brought in the Golden Globes 2025. The past year saw some of the finest cinematic spectacles of global cinema and television. While titles like ‘Emilia Perez,’ ‘Wicked,’ and ‘The Brutalist’ created waves with their release, ‘Emilia Perez’ dominated the musical and comedy category. On the other hand, the post-war film ‘The Brutalist’ emerged as the undisputed winner of the drama category. In television, ‘Shogun’ emerged as the leader of the pack with titles like ‘The Bear’ and ‘Baby Reindeer’ also grabbing wins.

The two major players of the night were ‘Emilia Perez’ and ‘The Brutalist.’ ‘Emilia Perez’ is a musical focusing on a drug lord who undergoes gender-affirming surgery. The title bagged the award for Best Musical or Comedy and led the night with four wins.

Meanwhile, ‘The Brutalist’ which chronicles life after the rupture of war swept the Best Drama award and two other top honours. Ardian Brody who brings to life a visionary architect trying to make it big in the post-war era grabbed the Best Actor in a Drama award. Brady Corbet, the film’s director, clinched the Best Director award after devoting seven years to bringing the ambitious passion project to screens.

The 82^nd Golden Globes was also special for India as Payal Kapadia’s ‘All We Imagine As Light’ bagged two notable nominations.

Coming to television, ‘Shogun’ dominated with the Best Drama Series award. Hiroyuki Sanada, the lead actor also grabbed the Best Actor award for his chilling performance in the historical drama set in Japan.
