The challenge requires people to use the FaceApp application which transforms users’ face to show what they would look like when they grow old.
After celebrities like Varun Dhawan and Arjun Kapoor experimented with the app and shared their pictures with fans of social media, the trend caught up with prominent personalities like the Bhartiya Janata Party Cabinet Minister Smriti Irani among many other political figures.
Smriti Irani, currently serves as the Minister of Textile and Minister of Women and Child Development, is a former TV actress who had her breakthrough career moment with Ekta Kapoor’s production Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi in the lead role of Tulsi Virani.
Recently, Irani took the #FaceAppChallenge and gave it a twist by sharing an old picture from the set of the show, Kyunki Saas Bhi… in which the actor is seen in a rather old look.
She shared the photograph on her official Instagram handle and captioned it “#when @ektaravikapoor gets to you before the #faceappchallenge#tbt.”
TV producer Ekta Kapoor who shares a great rapport with the minister wrote back, ” ….and u do it like a boss!!! It was d third leap na” to which Smriti replied, “@ektaravikapoor there were so many leaps I forgot.”
Ekta then replied that she made Smriti do that( look, perhaps) at least 7 times and every time it rated, “@smritiiraniofficial hahhahahhahah i made u do at least 7 n every time it rated.”
The show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, ran for over eight years and was one of the most watched and top rated shows of the time. It was also the first daily soap to cross the 1000 episode saga in television history.
Smriti Irani is the youngest minister in PM Narendra Modi led government.
