Tabu has been one actress who has always experimented with her characters by performing in different genres. She is one of the most successful actresses in the Bollywood film industry who has carved a niche for herself.

The talented actress stars in yet another suspense thriller AndhaDhun, the Sriram Raghavan directorial that has opened to rave reviews.

The story revolves around the a visually impaired pianist whose life changes after he meets Simi, the character played by Tabu.

In conversation with thestatesman.com, she spoke about working with talented director Sriram and also shared her fitness and beauty secret.

What tempted you to say yes to AndhaDhun?

I always wanted to work with Sriram, and he makes movies one of their kind and there is nobody else with this headspace and narrates the way he does. What he does with his actors is really unique and I don’t think I have done like this before. So it’s a treat to work with directors like these.

How was it working with Ayushmann and Radhika?

It was great. Radhika did not even have half a line with me but of course, I have done the whole film with Ayushmann, he is amazing, he is always joking and singing on sets.

How has your personality changed over the years?

The field I am in is very demanding and challenging. So I’m sure there is a huge change and everyone changes in life. People who know me can easily tell the change.

How do you feel about your journey so far?

I feel proud that I have made my journey of my own and without hiding behind the support. Of course, I had friends and family who have supported me. And definitely I feel proud of myself, proud of my work, the sincerity I have put in my work. And I have a lot of pride in my professionalism. I am really proud that I have so many friends.

Now in the digital space, web series are gaining a lot of momentum. If in future you get any offer to act in a web series, will you do it?

There are so many factors, so it depends.

How was it working with director Sriram?

It was great, new and wonderful experience and I have grown and learned a lot from him. I want to assist him in his next film.

You started off in 1994. And you still look the same. What’s your beauty and fitness secret?

Work and relax at the same time. Be happy, laugh a lot, travel a lot, make friends.

You have done some back-to-back thriller films. Any special connection?

Viacom 18 Motion Pictures is the connection. It’s just that I think there is a huge space for these kinds of films and storytelling.

Fashion to you is?

Something that complements me.
