On Wednesday, lawyer Sudhir Kumar Ojha filed the case in Muzaffarpur’s Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court against the crew of the film for ‘damaging the image’ of some ‘top people’. The court has admitted the case and fixed January 8 for hearing in the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate court.
Anupam Kher and Akshay Khanna are playing the roles of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his press advisor Sanjaya Baru respectively in the film. According to Ojha’s petition, the actors have damaged the image of both of them.

The complaint also accused other actors who have played the roles of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Vadra of ruining their reputation. The petition also included a complaint against the film director and producer.
Earlier, Satyajeet Tambe Patil, President of the Maharashtra State Youth Congress, sent a letter to the producer of the film demanding a special screening before it is released. He raised objections to “incorrect representation of the facts” in the film, the trailer of which was released on December 27.
The Anupam Kher-starrer political drama is based on a book of the same title written by Sanjay Baru which traces the journey of Indian economist and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. The Vijay Gutte directorial is written by Sanjay Baru.
The film is slated to hit the screens on January 11, 2019.
