The makers of Byomkesh Gotro, a much-anticipated suspense thriller, have finally released the official trailer of the upcoming film. Abir Chatterjee will be reprising his role as the titular character, Byomkesh Bakshi, in the film. This Durga Puja, the Byomkesh Bakshi fans will be treated with another detective thriller.
On 22 September, Abir took to Twitter to share the official trailer of Byomkesh Gotro. Paying a tribute to author Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay, who created the character of Byomkesh, Abir wrote, “Here goes the Official Trailer of #ByomkeshGowtro, our tribute to #SaradinduBandyopadhyay on his death anniversary. In Cinemas 12th October.”

Bandyopadhyay’s Byomkesh preferred to call himself a “satyanveshi” (seeker of the truth) and not a detective. The forthcoming film is inspired from Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay’s Rakter Daag. This time Arindam Sil’s film deals with a ‘love triangle’. As the trailer begins, Abir as Byomkesh could be heard referring to himself as a “satyanveshi”. He further talks about Satyabati and Satyakam as we get a glimpse of his wife and the young businessman, respectively.
Satyakam meets Byomkesh in Kolkata and claims he has a treat to his life. When asked why he suspects so, Satyakam replies, “I am very popular or rather unpopular.” This statement sets a suspicion around the character in the very beginning. Let’s see how Byomkesh would unravel this mystery.
Byomkesh Gotro will be starring Sohini Sarkar, Arjun Chakraborty, and Rahul Banerjee alongside Abir Chatterjee. The film is slated to release on 12 October 2018.
