‘Stree 2’ has set the box office on fire! In a historic feat, the Amar Kaushik film becomes the first-ever Hindi film to rack up 600 crores at the domestic box office. Days after outrunning Atlee’s ‘Jawan’ as the highest-grossing Hindi title, the boys of Chanderi and mysterious Stree continue their unprecedented dominance at the box office. The film, made around a budget of 60 cores, has racked up 10 times its budget, setting an impressive record.

The achievement is monumental given its small budget in comparison to other blockbusters. Moreover, the film did it without the presence of any mainstream big stars in ‘Stree 2.’ Starring Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkumar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee, the film released on August 14.

The second horror-comedy film under the ‘Stree’ series of Maddock’s Supernatural Universe racked up 307.80 crores in its first week including its Wednesday previews. The film then collected 145.80 crores in its second week, and 72.83 crores in its third week. Additionally, the film collected 37.75 crores in its fourth week and 25.72 crores in its fifth week. Subsequently, the film collected 5.20 crores on its sixth Friday and 3.80 crores on its sixth Saturday. Moreover, it amassed 5.32 crores on its sixth Sunday. This brings ‘Stree 2’s domestic collection to a whopping 604.22 crores. The film now boasts the title of inaugurating the 600-crore club in Bollywood.

Reflecting on the film’s ground-breaking success, film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to X. He penned, “IT’S 600 PAAR… #Stree2 creates HISTORY as the *first #Hindi film* to achieve this milestone… From metros to non-metros, multiplexes to single screens and urban centres to mass markets, #Stree2 is an OUTRIGHT WINNER across the board. It would be premature to predict the *lifetime biz*, as #Stree2 has consistently surprised with phenomenal numbers day after day, week after week.”

The milestone comes after ‘Stree 2’ took the crown from SRK’s ‘Jawan’ for being the biggest Hindi film to date. Previously, it overtook the lifetime collections of blockbuster titles like ‘Animal’ and ‘Gadar 2.’ What remains to be seen now is for how long will ‘Stree 2’ remain at the top of the list, given that several anticipated titles are set for release.

‘Stree 2’ is the sequel to Amar Kaushik’s 2018 blockbuster and is the second instalment of the ‘Stree’ film series. Meanwhile, it is the fifth title in Maddock’s Supernatural Universe. Meanwhile, the makers have already confirmed the third instalment.
