Actor Diljit Dosanjh, who is gearing up for his next film Soorma, received a very special gift from Sandeep Singh’s father upon his arrival at Sandeep’s hometown Shahbad.
Diljit made a special visit to the legendary player’s hometown alongside the crew of the film ahead of the film’s release. Upon his arrival, the Punjabi sensation was greeted by thousands and he also visited the hockey turf where Sandeep used to practice.
However, Diljit’s most memorable moment came when he met Sandeep’s parents and received a special token of gesture from the hockey legend’s father. Diljit received a hockey stick, which is very close to Sandeep’s heart and was with him throughout the time he was paralysed after sustaining a bullet injury in a case of accidental firing.
The Udta Punjab actor also took to his social media handles to share the emotional moment with his fans. He posted: “Soorma RELEASING WORLDWIDE 13TH JULY#Shahbad Markandha @flickersingh”
Interestingly, Soorma has been shot in Shahbad to capture the essence of Sandeep’s journey in order to become one of the most dangerous drag-flickers of all time.
Twelve years ago, Sandeep’s life turned upside down when he was shot at and remained paralysed for two years. But the player’s determination and love for the game brought him back on his feet and his story became one of the most inspiring comeback stories.
The film also features Taapsee Pannu and Angad Bedi in pivotal roles alongside Diljit, who will be essaying the lead role in this sports drama biopic.
Directed by Shaad Ali, Soorma is set to release worldwide on July 13.
