Rajkumar Hirani’s biopic on actor Sanjay Dutt is on a roll at the box office as the film collected Rs 62.97 crore in its second weekend.
Sanju starring Ranbir Kapoor in the titular role opened to a mammoth response at the box office and emerged as the biggest opener of 2018. The film has been on a phenomenal run ever since its release and continues to maintain its stronghold at the box office.

As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Sanju collected Rs 12.90 crore on Friday, Rs 22.02 crore on Saturday and Rs 28.05 crore on Sunday thus taking the total collections of the film to a staggering Rs 265.48 crore in just 10 days.

With the wonderful collections of second weekend, Sanju has now become the second highest grossing film of 2018 behind Padmaavat, which is still riding high as the biggest film of 2018 with a box office figure of Rs 300 crore.
However, if reports are to be believed, Sanju is set to take over the first spot and emerge as the biggest film of 2018. Numerous trade pundits are already predicting that the film will gross Rs 300 crore in its second week as there are no major releases lined up until this Friday.
The way Sanju is performing at the box office,the film is likely to earn at least Rs 35 crore in the coming five days, thus taking its total earnings to Rs 300 crore and making it the second film of 2018 to enter the elite club.
With that being said, let’s make a brief analysis of the turn of events at the box office ever since the release of Sanju.
After the release of Rajkumar Hirani’s much-awaited film, Sanju became the biggest opener of 2018, surpassing the record set by Race 3. It also surpassed the biggest single-day collection record set by Baahubali 2 as Sanju earned Rs 46.70 crore on its third day. Sanju tocuhed Rs 250 crore on its 10th day and is now the ninth highest grossing film of all time.
The film also calls for a celebration for the lead actor, Ranbir. Despite the film receiving mixed reviews from fans and critics, Ranbir’s performance was lauded by one and all. The film became his first Rs 200-crore venture and also a major success after two years.
Well, now it’ll be interesting to see how the film will perform in its second week as it will give a verdict on the film’s lifetime collections.
Presented by the iconic duo of Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Sanju stars an ensemble cast including the likes of Paresh Rawal, Vicky Kaushal, Dia Mirza and Manisha Koirala alongside Ranbir Kapoor and was released on June 29.
