Yash Raj Films surprised everyone last week with the announcement of ‘Shamshera’, which stars Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role. This is Ranbir Kapoor’s third film under Yash Raj Films. His previous films were Bachna Ae Hasseno and Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year.

The teaser of ‘Shamshera’ made everyone go crazy. Ranbir Kapoor impressed all in a never-seen-before avatar of a bandit. It now appears that the makers have more surprises in store for the fans.

On Thursday, 10 May, Yash Raj Films said that Sanjay Dutt will play the villain in the film.
It is ironic that Ranbir plays Sanjay Dutt in Sanju, the much-anticipated biopic on the actor. Shamshera will bring Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt together for the first time. It also mark’s Sanjay’s first film with YRF.

Reacting to the news, Sanjay Dutt said, “My father and Yash uncle were very close friends and now that I’m doing my first YRF film, it is an extremely emotional moment for me. When I heard Karan’s idea to pit Ranbir against me, I thought it was just brilliant. I’m looking forward to shooting this incredibly exciting film, my second with the hugely talented Karan Malhotra.”

According to reports, the film is a high-octane action adventure film which will be helmed by Karan Malhotra, who is popular for directing the remake of Agneepath, which starred Hrithik Roshan in the lead role.
Shamshera is expected to start its shooting in late 2018 and wrap up by mid-2019.
