Vidhu Vinod Chopra confirms ‘3 Idiots’ sequel and ‘Munna Bhai 3’
Vidhu Vinod Chopra confirms the sequel of his smash hit '3 Idiots' and the third instalment of the beloved 'Munna Bhai' franchise.
Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju is on a dream run at the box office ever since its release and has emerged as a major success in Ranbir Kapoor’s career. Ranbir’s preparation to step into the skin of Sanjay Dutt is undeniably commendable which is a major highlight of the film. Now, that the buzz surrounding the film is finally over, the makers of the film have shared a few glimpses of Ranbir’s journey in becoming the lovable Munna Bhai.
Sanju showcases three facets of Dutt’s life — his drug abuse, the women in his life and his imprisonment in 1993. Another important aspect of the actor’s life is his character in Munna Bhai which has been widely appreciated by fans and critics. To showcase the authenticity of the iconic character, the makers had to go through a rigorous schedule of prosthetic make up and VFX to give Ranbir the perfect Munna Bhai look for the biopic.

Apparently, Ranbir had to go through more than 13 different looks of prosthetics to justify the character of Murli Prasad aka Munna Bhai. We are familiar with Ranbir’s physical transformation to step into the shoes of an actor who has a larger-than-life persona, but it was one of the most difficult tasks for the crew and make-up artistes to give Ranbir the exact facial features as that of Sanjay Dutt.

Here is the video that shows the hardwork and sheer dedication of the entire film crew to give Ranbir the perfect Munna Bhai look for the film.
That’s some gruelling and hectic schedule for Ranbir as it’s not an easy task to sit in the chair for six continuous hours. One other thing that we got to know from the video is the fact that the crew used a certain pair of shoes to match Ranbir’s height with that of Dutt’s for more authenticity. Well, that’s the magic of VFX.
However, the biggest highlight of the video came from Hirani when he revealed something about the real Sanju. In its closing moments, Hirani revealed that when he showed the Munna Bhai phase played by Ranbir Kapoor in Sanju, the real deadly Dutt’s instant reply to the iconic recreation of the film was “I Hope I’m in ‘Munna Bhai 3’.”
Well, as brilliant as Ranbir can be as an actor, it’s impossible to think about a Munna Bhai film without Sanjay Dutt. Apart from Baba himself, the actor’s fans are also eagerly waiting for the third instalment of the much-admired franchise. Fingers crossed!
Presented by the iconic duo of Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani, Sanju stars an ensemble cast and is inching closer to Rs 300 crore at the box office. The film was released worldwide on June 29.
