Actor Ravi Kishan shared insights about the upcoming courtroom drama show ‘Maamla Legal Hai’, highlighting the unique approach taken to portray legal matters in the series.
Speaking to ANI, the veteran actor expressed, “This is a legal ‘maamla’ that will bring immense joy to the audience. Real-life incidents from the courtroom are depicted in the series comprising 8 episodes, each presented in a concise format. Netflix, Posham Pa Pictures, and Rahul Pandey have beautifully brought it to life. My friends who are advocates and judges are eagerly anticipating seeing their profession portrayed on a global platform.”
He further elaborated, “Ordinarily, people approach courts and hospitals with apprehension. However, this story skillfully unveils the lighter side, including the humor, in the lives of lawyers. My character, Tyagi, is portrayed as smart, clever, and a smooth operator who is determined to fulfill his dreams.”

Director Rahul Pandey also shared his insights, stating, “When I first read the script, what stood out was the subtle humor woven throughout. Typically, settings like courts and hospitals are portrayed with solemnity in films. However, we aimed to capture the humor inherent in these environments, as envisioned in the script. I felt compelled to explore this world…”
Actress Nidhi Bisht shed light on her character, stating, “I portray the role of Sujata Negi, a pavement lawyer with 8-10 years of experience. Despite lacking extensive legal knowledge, she is manipulative.”
Naila Grrewal, discussing her character, added, “I play Ananya Shroff, a Harvard-educated lawyer who holds an LLM degree. Despite being a third-generation lawyer, she chooses to diverge from her father’s path and opts to start as a legal aide at the District Court. It’s a unique scenario…”
The series delves into the lives of lawyers at the Patparganj District Court. Ravi Kishan portrays VD Tyagi, a cunning lawyer who challenges the judicial system. Joining him is Ananya Shroff (Naila Grrewal), a Harvard graduate passionate about justice, and Sujata Negi (Nidhi Bisht), an experienced yet unrepresented lawyer. Additionally, there’s Vishwas Pandey (Anant V Joshi), the court manager who sees himself as the Donna Paulson of Patparganj District Court, drawing parallels to the savvy secretary from ‘Suits’. Despite their black coats, their hearts remain compassionate.
Directed by Rahul Pandey, ‘Maamla Legal Hai’ offers a fresh perspective on the legal profession, featuring a diverse cast of lawyers ranging from idealistic newcomers to seasoned veterans. The series is produced by Amit Golani, Biswapati Sarkar, Sameer Saxena, and Saurabh Khanna.
The eagerly awaited series is scheduled to premiere on the OTT platform Netflix on March 1. (ANI)
