Actress Rashmika Mandanna bravely addresses her deepfake video ordeal, advocating for awareness and challenging societal norms.
Rashmika Mandanna, the talented actress known for her roles in the entertainment industry, recently opened up about her harrowing ordeal with a deepfake video that circulated on social media last year. The incident left her embroiled in controversy, prompting her to share her thoughts on the matter in a heartfelt interview.
In the interview, Rashmika delved into the reasons behind her decision to speak out against the deepfake video. She emphasized the importance of raising awareness about such incidents in society, shedding light on the challenges faced by individuals in the public eye. The ‘Animal’ actress candidly expressed her concerns about societal expectations and the pressure to conform to predetermined norms.
Reflecting on her own experience, Rashmika acknowledged the tendency for people to dismiss such issues, questioning the timing of her decision to address the matter. She stated, “So many times this happens, and you speak about it, and someone is like, ‘But you chose this job!’ Or you know, ‘This is how it’s going to be.’ ‘Like, why are you talking about it now?’” She further highlighted her motivation, emphasizing that if a similar incident had occurred during her college days, she might not have had the support she needed.

Rashmika expressed genuine concern for other individuals, particularly young girls in college who might face similar situations without a support system. She challenged the societal norm that dictates individuals must conform to public perceptions, urging for a shift in mindset. The actress stated, “There’s something that is affecting emotions and causing stress in people in general. So I think bringing out that awareness was important to me.”
The deepfake video, which went viral in November last year, depicted a morphed version of Rashmika Mandanna entering an elevator. Following a two-month investigation, the Delhi Police apprehended the main accused in the case. Rashmika is not the only actress who has been targeted by deepfake technology; others such as Kajol, Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt, and Nora Fatehi have also fallen victim to this disturbing trend.
By sharing her story and speaking out against deepfake incidents, Rashmika Mandanna aims to empower others to confront similar challenges and contribute to a broader awareness of the emotional toll caused by these deceptive manipulations in the digital age.
