Renowned Bollywood director Rajkumar Hirani is making his debut in the digital realm with an upcoming OTT show featuring the talented Vikrant Massey. Fresh off directing the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer “Dunki,” the 61-year-old filmmaker shared his excitement about the project, revealing that it will be available on Disney Hotstar.

Breaking away from his directorial duties, Hirani takes on the role of a showrunner for the upcoming series, emphasizing his deep involvement in the creative process. Speaking about the show, he expressed his satisfaction with the script and the overall development, highlighting that it’s a project close to his heart. “It’s something I’m very happy about with the script and the way it has panned out. On this show, I’m really involved, and it’s in my own space,” Hirani revealed in an interview.

Known for his iconic slice-of-life films like the “Munnabhai” series, “3 Idiots,” “PK,” and the biopic “Sanju,” Hirani also shared that he has a couple of feature film ideas in mind for future projects. The lockdown period imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic provided him with the opportunity to dedicate time to script development. “Luckily, COVID-19 gave us the time to sit at home and work on more scripts. I’m working on more scripts now in a month or so, and we’ll start deciding where we will go,” he explained.

Reflecting on his illustrious career, Hirani expressed gratitude for the enduring impact of his debut film, which continues to resonate with audiences two decades after its release. “I just feel gratitude towards life. Nobody expected that people would still be talking about films from 20 years ago. The lingo, the dialogues will still be in the psyche of this generation. And you will still see memes”. Hirani shared, acknowledging the ongoing cultural significance of his work.

As fans eagerly anticipate Hirani’s foray into the digital space with Vikrant Massey in tow, the director’s commitment to storytelling and script development ensures that his creative journey in the world of entertainment continues to evolve.
