Farhan Akhtar recently shared a heartwarming birthday wish for his sister, Zoya Akhtar, on Instagram. He posted, “Happy birthday Zo.. never lose your wings” along with the hashtag #supersister. Along with the message, Farhan treated his followers to candid and playful videos of Zoya in a lighthearted mood.
The Akhtar siblings are the children of renowned lyricist Javed Akhtar and screenwriter Honey Irani, making them part of Bollywood’s most well-known creative families. Both Zoya and Farhan have followed in their parents’ footsteps, carving their own successful careers in the Indian film industry.

On the work front, Farhan Akhtar is currently immersed in his latest project, ‘120 Bahadur’. This upcoming military action film is set against the backdrop of the 1962 Indo-China war and highlights the heroic deeds of Indian soldiers during the Battle of Rezang La. Farhan will take on the role of Maj Shaitan Singh, a Param Vir Chakra awardee who led his men with great courage and sacrifice in the face of overwhelming odds.
In addition to ‘120 Bahadur’, Farhan has another major project lined up: ‘Don 3’. The highly anticipated third installment of the ‘Don’ franchise will see Ranveer Singh step into the titular role, previously played by Bollywood legends Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan in earlier versions.
Meanwhile, Zoya Akhtar has been making waves in her own right. Known for her distinctive storytelling style, Zoya has directed and written several critically acclaimed films over the years. Recently, she produced the docuseries ‘Angry Young Men’, further expanding her impressive body of work.
Zoya’s career has seen several notable achievements. She made her directorial debut in 2009 with ‘Luck by Chance’, but it was ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ in 2011 that truly propelled her to fame. The film became a cultural touchstone and earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Director. Her filmography also includes the gripping psychological crime thriller ‘Talaash’ (2012), the family drama ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ (2015), and the musical sensation ‘Gully Boy’ (2019), which won her another Filmfare Award for Best Director.
Beyond films, Zoya has ventured into the world of streaming with notable projects such as ‘Made in Heaven’ and ‘Dahaad’. In 2023, she took on an ambitious project for Netflix—a live-action adaptation of the beloved comic series ‘The Archies’.
