Ankita Lokhande, the versatile actress known for her compelling portrayals, is gearing up to embody the character of Yamunabai in the upcoming film ‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’. In a recent interview with ANI, she shared insights into her role and what drew her to it.

Describing Yamunabai, Lokhande emphasized her as a quintessential representation of Indian womanhood. She highlighted Yamunabai’s resilience and unwavering support for her husband, even during his incarceration in the infamous Kala Pani. Through Yamunabai’s character, Lokhande aims to shed light on the strength and determination inherent in every Indian housewife, especially during times of adversity.

Delving into her preparation for the role, Lokhande expressed her admiration for Yamunabai’s often overlooked contributions to India’s struggle for independence. Lokhande also shared her experience working alongside Randeep Hooda, who plays the titular role of Veer Savarkar. She praised Hooda’s meticulous approach to character portrayal, which greatly aided her own performance.

When asked about her decision to take on the role, Lokhande credited her friend Sandeep Singh, the film’s producer, for introducing her to the project.
